Enjoy an overnight stop in Stockholm before heading by steamboat to the province of Sörmland with its 2,800 islands, islets and skerries and numerous castles and manor houses. Spend 3 days canoeing, first through the dramatic Marivken lake system, bordered by 50m high cliffs, before continuing to Lake Klämmingen where many small beaches line the lakeshore. Reach Trosaån River and continue to the charming seaside village of Trosa which you have time to enjoy before returning for a final night in Stockholm.
Day 1: Arrive in Stockholm
Stockholm is a vibrant city with a wealth of attractions to enjoy, so time permitting, take your pick from a wander around the cobbled streets of Gamla Stan, the medieval old town; take a boat trip to discover more of the city's 14 islands and 57 bridges! Or for some pop culture head to the ABBA museum!

Day 2: Stockholm to Mariefred
Today starts with a journey by steamboat across the mighty Lake Mälaren to the charming village of Mariefred. You'll have time to explore the village, founded in 1605 and famed for its narrow, winding streets and colourful, wooden houses as well as being home to one of the most important and magnificent castles in the region, Gripsholm Castle. It's also possible to take the steam train to Taxinge Manor House where they are famed for their remarkable display of cakes. Catch the steam train back to Mariefred.

Day 3: Mariefred to Lake Klämmingen
A transfer takes you to Åkers Styckebruk where you start your canoe trip. You will be met, provided with your canoes and given an introduction to the canoe before heading off on your own. Paddle gently down Lake Marviken to Laxne enjoying the marvellous scenery on the way. The area is of geological interest - the mountain split in two and as a result Lake Marviken is bordered by 50 metre high cliffs. Take time to enjoy a picnic lunch looking out over the beautiful lake before continuing on your way. The lake widens into the beautiful Lake Klämmingen where you can take advantage of the clean, fresh water stopping at one of the many small beaches lining the lakeshore. Enjoy the peace and tranquility as you float along, listening to the birds and softly lapping waves before arriving at your overnight camping stop.

Day 4: Lake Klämmingen to Gnesta
Your canoe journey continues down Lake Klämmingen, take time to stop at some more of the beaches to enjoy a swim and soak up the summer sun. Join Lake Frösjön and pass by the impressive Södertuna Manor House. A morning of canoeing in the fresh air will ensure you enjoy a stop at Gnesta for a rest and a well deserved lunch. Paddle down the narrow Sigtuna canal that opens out in your final lake - Lake Sillen. Another beautiful lake, you can appreciate its solitude and scenery as you paddle to your accommodation for the night, an impressive manor house located on its shore at Mälby on the outskirts of Gnesta.

Day 5: Gnesta to Trosa
From Mälby, you'll take to the water one final time and paddle down Lake Sillen to the small and secluded beach at Sille. As you leave the lake behind and join the Trosaån river the scenery changes. Your destination today is Trosa, a charming town that is visited by many Stockholmers in the summer months because of its unique location surrounded by both open landscape and a marvellous archipelago. You will arrive in time to enjoy wandering, enjoying its many restaurants and shops.

Day 6: Trosa to Stockholm
Today you will take the bus from Trosa back to Stockholm at a time to suit you, so relax and wander the streets of Trosa, or consider renting a sea kayak to explore the waters of Trosa’s beautiful archipelago.

Enjoy some time exploring Stockholm before your departure.

Journey by canoe at your own pace along the lakes, rivers and canals of Sörmland. No previous experience is needed and a short instruction will be provided.
For this tour we recommend flying into Stockholm Arlanda or Skavsta Airports.

Manor house delightfully located on the shores of Lake Sillen with wonderful lake views. B&B rooms available in a separate adjacent building to the main manor house as well as the main house. Shared facilities between a small number of rooms.

The oldest parts of Ågården are from the early 18th century. Ågarden is a small, cosy guest house in which all rooms are unique. There is an impressive breakfast room as well as a delightful garden with apple trees by the river edge. Private facilities.
