Discover the hottest new trend for the coolest of climates
Summer might have just arrived but it’s never too soon to plan your winter break. Whereabouts Holidays has just released 2018 dates for their popular Fat Biking in Bear Kingdom tour in Finland.
Dare to go where standard mountain bikers fear to tread, on an off-road adventure in the unspoilt wilderness of Martinselkonen in Finland.
Armed with a bike with oversized tyres, specially designed for soft, unstable terrain, such as snow, enjoy the hottest new trend on wheels. This tour also includes an evening snowshoeing trip, lunch in a wilderness hut, a ride around a lake and on ice with the chance to warm up over lunch by an open fire.
The six night trip costs £1,069 per person with departure dates on 22nd January, 19th February and 23rd March 2018.
Fat biking is an unforgettable experience. The tour takes you along Europe’s most easterly point, close to the Russian border, where bears hibernate deep in the Taiga forest. Spot animal tracks in a snow, and in the evening relax in the heat of a sauna and perhaps catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights dancing in the sky.
Si Teasdale, product manager for Whereabouts Holidays said: “The sport has become increasingly popular and makes a great winter workout as you can burn 1,500 calories an hour. Cycling an average of 15 km a day this is a great way to explore the winter landscape of this breathtakingly beautiful part of the world.”
