From Morocco to Timbuktu presenter announced as Whereabouts Holidays’ ambassador

Writer and adventurer, Alice Morrison, who recently presented the two-part BBC 2 series From Morocco to Timbuktu, has been signed up by Whereabouts Holidays as its first ambassador.

Whereabouts Holidays has 200 tours to choose from, including cycling, walking, kayaking, rock climbing and snow shoeing -  a whole world of fun and active holidays.  All tours are designed for anyone who is reasonably fit, with the emphasis on fun experiences rather than anything too challenging.  Whereabouts Holidays also has Micro Adventure programme which offers short breaks of up to five nights for time-poor travellers who want a taste of adventure and an action packed weekend.

During the television series, which ended last night (18 May 2017), Alice follows the ‘Salt Roads’, once the world’s richest trading networks to the fabled sandstone city of Timbuktu. Travelling by any means possible – camel, donkey and sometimes just on foot – it’s a journey that takes her deep into the history, culture and civilisation of both ancient and modern North Africa.

Alice will be writing a monthly blog for Whereabouts Holidays, highlighting some of her favourite tours.   The active holiday specialist has also commissioned the explorer and presenter to select a range of signature tours.

Commenting on her appointment, Alice Morrison said: “Adventure makes your heart beat faster and everything seem brighter.  Whereabouts Holidays is making active travel accessible to all, so I’m honoured to be an ambassador. My mantra is – if I can do it, anyone can. Everyone deserves a little adventure in their lives and together we can make that happen.  A long weekend doing something active can enrich your life and give you a different perspective.  I can’t wait to discover new places with Whereabouts Holidays.”

Peter Morgan, marketing manager for Whereabouts Holidays said: “Alice shares our belief that everyone should have a little bit of adventure in their lives. We understand it’s not about being the first, fastest or fittest, it’s having the experience that counts. Whereabouts Holidays has a whole raft of trips that are exciting, some challenging, and most of which you can fit into a long weekend. Whether it’s cycling, walking or a Micro Adventure, we have something to offer any everyday adventurer.”
